Parking attendant
survives slay try

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

A parking attendant who was shot four times at around 11 a.m. Tuesday, is now recuperating after undergoing surgery at the Silliman University Medical Center in Dumaguete City.

Supt. Crisaleo Tolentino, Dumaguete police chief, identified the victim as Jesus Bulpat Fabe Jr., 33, of San Isidro in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental. After surgery, Wednesday morning, Fabe was able to talk to the police in the afternoon.

Investigation showed that Fabe was at his work place in front of the SUMC when the still unidentified suspect shot him at close range and fled. He sustained gunshot wounds in his legs, right arm and abdomen, but was able to go to the hospital and admit himself, Tolentino added.

The police, meanwhile, recovered two spent shells of a .45 caliber revolver at the crime scene.

Tolentino said they are looking into the alleged involvement of an elected official in the province. Fabe was reported to have engaged the politician in an argument Sunday night at a parking lot, in front of the the St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral in Dumaguete, he added.

Investigators are asking those who witnessed the incident to cooperate with the police. Tolentino said there were several people who saw it but are apparently fearful about giving sworn statements to the police.*JFP
