People will decide in
DSB, dela Cruz says

BY CARLA GOMEZ

It’s the people of Don Salvador Benedicto town who will decide whom they want to be their public officials in 2013, Negros Occidental Board Member Nehemias de la Cruz said yesterday.

De la Cruz was reacting to reports that Ambassador Eduardo Cojuangco, United Negros Alliance and Nationalist People’s Coalition founder, may support the bid of lawyer Joe Max Ortiz for mayor of DSB.

De la Cruz is seeking re-election as first district board member, while his son Marxlen Laurence de la Cruz is also running for a second term as mayor of DSB.

Asked about the possibility of Cojuangco supporting Ortiz, the board member said “if he does, okay lang, it’s the people who decide and not anybody else.

“Everybody is free to do what they want, this is a a democratic country,” he added.

De la Cruz said he remains a member of UNA and NPC.*CPG
