The Bacolod Central Market will hold a ground-breaking ceremony at the market’s center aisle and city government officials, market staff and members of the different market vendors associations are expected to attend at 2 p.m. today, a press release from the city said.

The partial rehabilitation of the market amounted to P1.5 Million for the repairs of the toilets, roofing, painting, and the establishment of a consumers’ welfare desk at the center aisle and for project monitoring.

Invited to give their messages during the program are Mayor Evelio Leonardia, DILG Director for Bacolod City Eliseo Orendez, Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Acting City Administrator Goldwyn Nifras, Acting President of the Bacolod Central Market Vendors Association, Councilor. Caesar Distrito, who heads the Committee on Markets and Slaughterhouse.

Pangilinan to buy
GMA7 in cash

MANILA – Businessman Manny Pangilinan will pay in cash once his group buys GMA Network Inc.

In a briefing, Pangilinan, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. chairman, said talks with GMA Network was “on-going” but declined to give a time-table on when these talks would be concluded.

“Should we exceed, as we’re likely to exceed the 35 percent trigger point for the offer, then it will require us an offer on the same term to the minorities. So the answer is yes, we have to make a cash offer to the minorities,” he said.
