Birthday dinner
for a favorite teacher
In town is balikbayan Norma Bitanga Regidor, an alumna of La Consolacion College, who used to teach at her Alma Mater Bacolod Tay Tung High School, the University of St. La Salle, the then Occidental Negros Institute (now University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos) and at La Salle Green Hills, where Senator Bongbong Marcos was one of her students.
So Class ‘58 and ‘60 joined forces and hosted a bonggacious birthday dinner for their favorite teacher at L’Sea Restaurant on June 23. We occupied the function room downstairs facing Lacson Street. The tables were beautifully-decorated with flowers, and a huge birthday cake waited in the corner.
Fr. Pius Noel Ma. Pareja blessed the food, and everybody sang “Happy Birthday” to the celebrator. The long buffet table was a welcome sight, where delicious hot dishes were laid out. It was the fish in red sauce, and not the crispy lechon, that was the favorite of almost everybody.
Aside from her former students, friends and co-teachers of Regidor also attended the affair. Maggie J. took care of the snapshots to remember the birthday dinner for their favorite teacher.
To the birthday girl, God bless and good health to you, always.*
Remember: It’s important to find joy in “ordinary” things for they are indeed wonderful. Bigger is not always better. More is not always an improvement. Find the joy to appreciate even the simplest of things. Big or small, it’s a blessing from God.
