Kilusang Mayo Uno-Negros yesterday urged Negrenses to unite and oppose the P2 per kilowatt hour increase in Central Negros Electric Cooperative’s procurement of power from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market that will affect the July 2012 billing of its consumers.
CENECO Thursday said it was forced to get power from WESM after KEPCO SPC Power Corp. informed them that its Unit 1 is experiencing problems due to afurnace tube leak. It also informed CENECO that there is ongoing maintenance work on Unit 2 that started June 21, and is estimated to end on July 10.
DA allots P400M for WV

The Department of Agriculture has allotted P400 million for the purchase of farm implements in Western Visayas this year under its Farm Mechanization Program.
Agriculture regional executive director, Larry Nacionales, said there has been an increase in the awareness of farmers on the benefits of mechanized farming, specifically on higher profit because of reduced losses due to wastage.
Nacionales said that under the Farm Mechanization Program, the government will shoulder 85 percent of the cost while the recipients share a counterpart fund of 15 percent.
‘Seal of Good Housekeeping’
leads to Central Market rehab
The Bacolod Central Market has benefited from a support fund granted by the Department of Interior and Local Government an offshoot of the Seal of Good Housing Keeping earned by the city earlier, a press release from the city said.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor Jude Sayson, Councilor Caesar Distrito, DILG Community Affairs Assistant Tessie Banay, Operations Officer II Sandra Hechanova, and Executive Assistant Ernie Pineda led the groundbreaking ceremony for the P1.5 million Central Market rehabilitation program yesterday.
