SJI, La Salle girls lead
early winners in SGVL

Perennial champion University of St. La Salle-Integrated School beat St. Joseph School-La Salle, 25-20, 25-20, to start its title retention bid on a bright note, while St. John’s Institute booked a back-to-back win last weekend against Trinity Christian School and St. Theresa’s Academy in the ongoing Shakey’s girls Volleyball League Season 9- Negros eliminations at the USLS Covered Court in Bacolod City.

While the La Salle girls remain as top favorite in the tournament, the SJI squad poses a strong challenge to the title after two overwhelming victories.

Against the TCS, the Johnians posted a 25-22, 25-8, win while they held back STA in three sets, 25-18, 23-25, 25-12.

Also aiming for the top seat in the provincial eliminations this year are the Rafael Lacson Memorial High School (Talisay City), Dona Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High School, and Luisa Medel National High School,who also registered wins against their respective opponents.

 RLMHS gave STA its second straight loss, 25-21, 22-25 and 25-17, while the team from La Carlota City beat TCS, 25-7, 25-17. Luisa Medel National High School got its bearing in time to prevail over Colegio San Nicolas Tolentino-Recoletos, 14-25, 25-19 and 25-20.

 The tournament opened  February 19 and expected to end March 11, with the winner playing against the champion from Iloilo eliminations to determine Western Visayas’ representative to the national finals set on March 20-24 in Bacolod City.*NAB
