Supt. Julius Ongkiko, head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Bacolod City, said the call center agent who illegally recruited 60 persons may also have victims in other provinces.
Ongkiko said that the suspect, whose name is being withheld pending the filing of charges against him, is from Iligan City and had stayed in Davao and Caloocan cities before working in Bacolod.
He added that the suspect resigned from the call center where he was working on February 15 and is now in hiding.
The complainants told CIDG-Bacolod that the suspect had been recruiting since August last year and had offered them jobs as bellboys, human resource managers, waiters and housekeeping staff members in a resort in Dubai, where he claimed his sister is also working.
The suspect asked the complainants to pay P20,000 each for the security and cash bond and set their orientation at his boarding house in Bacolod with their supposed employer, through a teleconference call, on Monday before their scheduled departure the following day.
However, the complainants said the suspect did not show up and can no longer be contacted.
The complainants will file charges for large scale illegal recruitment against the suspect before the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office this week.*APN back
