Ogie-Regine special
on Saturday

After the successful "Mr. and Mrs. A" concert held at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on Valentine's Day, fans of the power couple and all Kapuso viewers will have a chance to witness the first-ever collaboration concert as husband and wife of Songwriter Ogie Alcasid and Asia's songbird Regine Velasquez -Alcasid through the Mr. and Mrs. A television special, a press release from the station said.

Love and emotions will outpour as the couple sings timeless songs that unravel their life and love stories.

Adding highlight to the occasion are the country's sought-after artists Dingdong Dantes, Michael V, Moymoy Palaboy and Sam Pinto as they share the stage with the couple, the press release added.*

Photography workshop held

The Negros Occidental Tourism Center in cooperation with the Photo Artist League of Iloilo, recently held a training-workshop on basic digital photography at the O’Hotel, Bacolod City, a press release from the group said.

Discussed on the workshop were the types of medium, transferring images, basic composition, movie-making clips, photo essay, and the application of what has been learned, output presentation and critiquing.

The training is designed for tourism officers, to enhance their capability building and development in coming up with promotional materials for their local government units, Cristine Mansinares, supervising tourism operations officer of the Center said. It is part of the tourism development program under the Negros First Agenda of Governor Alfredo Maranon Jr., the press release added.*

Hinigaran site of UN project

Hinigaran town, Negros Occidental, will be the pilot site of the United Nations Democracy Fund project called “Institutionalizing Marginalized Communities’ Participation in the Philippine Budget Process”, a press release from the Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement-Negros said yesterday.

The project aims to achieve increased participation of marginalized sectors in the local and national processes in eight target areas nationwide through capacity-building, policy advocacy, and social mobilization, Hazel Aghon, PRRM secretariat, said, she added that Hinigaran, a coastal town situated 54 kms from Bacolod, is the only area selected in the province.

The two-year model-building project, that started last month, seeks to train marginalized groups, especially small fishers and women, to address the lack of capacity to engage in the local budget process; enhance the awareness and knowledge on implementing democratic budgeting among local officials and lobbying for legislations to ensure transparency and accountability; and forge government-citizens/sectors partnership in public finance, the press release added.*

Silay City conducts
blood-letting

The Silay City Liga ng mga Barangay bloodletting activity, called “Dugo Mong Alay, Pansagip Buhay”, was held at the Jose Locsin Cultural and Civic Center, recently, a press release from the league said.

ABC president Joedith Gallego said there were 120 residents who passed the screening and donated their blood. The activity was in partnership with the Philippine National Red Cross and the Silay City Health Office.

She also appealed to the public to participate in the next bloodletting on March 31, 2012 at the same venue, the press release added.*
