Multiple rape raps filed
versus tricycle driver
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Multiple criminal charges were filed against a tricycle driver in Dumaguete City before the City Prosecutors Office, for reportedly sexually molesting a 14-year-old second year high school student.

SPO4 Josefa Lakandula, chief of the Dumaguete Police Women and Children’s Desk, said the 24-year-old suspect, whose identity the police withheld, is a resident of a rural barangay in the city, and has been charged with abduction with rape, two other counts of rape, and three counts of sexual assault, for placing other items in the genitals of the victim.

Lakandula said that what the suspect did to the girl was “not normal”, and added that the police are eyeing the possibility of letting the suspect undergo a drug test.

Police investigation showed that the suspect first abducted the girl Saturday noon, boxed her twice in the body, brought her to an undisclosed place in Dumaguete, hogtied both her hands and feet and raped her several times.

The girl claimed that she was made to drink a kind of liquid that was bitter, the police added.

On Sunday, the victim’s parents reported her missing, and on Monday, she was found dumped near the Iglesia Ni Cristo church in Taclobo.

Despite being very weak because she had not eaten since Saturday, the girl was able to return home, Lakandula also said.

She added that the victim has positively identified the suspect through the pictures of tricycle drivers at the Traffic Management Office.*JG
