Woman injured in fire
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

A woman sustained first degree burns when fire of still unknown origin razed two houses in Purok Camias, Barangay Calindagan in Dumaguete City, shortly after midnight yesterday.

The woman’s identity was not available as of press time, but Fire Officer 1 Early Uy, officer-of-the-day of the Dumaguete Fire Department, said there were no other casualties reported in the fire that hit the densely populated area.

Four fire engines were deployed after receiving a call for assistance around 12:35 a.m., Uy added.

One of the houses that were razed was a shanty owned by Ralph Antony, and the other one made of mixed materials, belonged to Francisco Llena, the Fire Bureau added. Estimated cost of damage was P100,000.

Initial investigation showed the fire started at a bedroom in the Llena house. Firefighters declared the fire out at 1:20 a.m., Uy said.

The cause of the fire, that did not spread to other houses in the packed neighborhood, is still being investigated.*JFP
