Marañon commits to
better land use

Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr. and Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board chief executive officer, Antonio Bernardo, led in the signing of the commitment wall for the Comprehensive Land Use Plan Zero Backlog by 2013, during the project launching held at the Pavilion Hotel in Bacolod City, yesterday, a press release from the Capitol said.

The four-day activity is a cluster planning approach to CLUP preparation and updating, participated in by Sanggunian Panlalawigan Members and representatives of the cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental, in coordination with the provincial government.

Marañon said he hopes the planning process will be done seriously and implemented strictly in different LGUs, the press release said.

HLURB Regional Director Pilar Jamandre lauded the provincial government of Negros Occidental for consolidating the accomplishment of the Provincial Physical Framework Plan and for having a 100 percent update in its CLUP, among all provinces in the country.

She also acknowledged the effort of Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, Ma. Lina Sanogal for her initiative and for being elected as the president of the League of Planning and Development Coordinators in the Philippines, the press release said.*
