The Lenten season is here

BUDDAI

At last, summer is here, the very hot weather makes me lazy and I just want to stay at home all the time. If ever I have some errands, something to buy, I go late in the afternoon and always take my time enjoying the cool breeze at the mall.

The Lenten season started last week, with hundreds of churchgoers attending the “badlis” or Ash Wednesday rites at the San Sebastian Church in Bacolod.

Every Friday around 5 a.m., a group of churchgoers joins the “Via Crucis,” or Way of the Cross at the San Sebastian Shrine. Devotees are also encouraged to abstain from eating meat, especially on Fridays.

Last Friday at 5.p.m, “The Salon” of Larry Guarte, whose forte is hair care, and make-up, was blessed and opened.

It is owned by Greg and Ging-Ging Cuaycong, with Larry Guarte as their partner. At the opening were family, relatives and valued clients.

Remember: God’s love is the voice when you can’t speak, the strength when you are weak, the hope when you are down, the smile when you are sad. Stay happy all the time!*

A students’ exhibition, featuring painting drawings, photography and architectural models, was mounted by the La Consolacion College-Bacolod School of Architecture Fine Arts and Interior Design at the Sta. Monica Building lobby of LCC February 20 to March 5, a press release from the school said.

Called “Of Heroes and Other Ideals”, the artworks dealt with the youth’s personal heroes, the people they admire most and look up to, and portraits of role models. There were also architectural and interior designs and ideals of what a physical environment would look like if things are touched by the freedom of imagination, it added.

The exhibition was the school’s contribution to the National Arts Month celebrated every February, the press release added.*
