A synchronized barangay clean-up day will be held from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday in the barangays of Bacolod City, Association of Barangay Captains and Councilor Mona Dia Jardin said yesterday.
The clean-up drive is a continuing program of the Clean and Green Task Force.
“We saw the clean-up of our main streets for four consecutive Saturdays and it is time for the barangays to clean up their own areas,” she said.
They will use the full force of the barangays to include the barangay captains and officials, barangay health workers, purok officials and residents, she said. The aim is to clean-up not only the mains streets but also the interior of the barangays, she added.
The barangay captains have signified they will help implement the “No Segregation, No Collection” policy on April 2, during a meeting on the Solid Waste Management program yesterday that was attended by 57 out of 61 barangay captains, and trial period will be conducted in the barangays from March 2-15, and the barangay captains were also given the schedules of garbage collection in their areas.
The barangay captains will also conduct education campaign starting from the puroks and even suggested that tricycle and trisikad drivers, who are paid to dump garbage from one barangay to another, should be educated that they will be penalized for dumping garbage illegally, she said. *CGS back
