Victim says
recruiter used his name

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The illegal recruiter who duped 41 residents of Negros Occidental and Bacolod City was using a fictitious name, one of his victims in Metro Manila told the DAILY STAR last night.

Charles Josef Nillas said the suspect, whose real identity is not yet known, had only used his name in luring the victims in Bacolod City for jobs in Dubai.

Nillas said he and nine others from Manila met the suspect, who introduced himself as “alias Joselito Tinudgan” two years ago, and told them there are jobs in Dubai for them.

He said they paid the recruiter and gave him their documents, but on the day that they were supposed to go to the office of the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency, the recruiter did not show up.

Nillas added that when he searched on the Internet, he found out that the real “Joselito Tindugan” is a different person, and not the recruiter who offered them jobs abroad.

“We have already moved on and I did not expect that the recruiter will use my identity to fool several residents in Bacolod City. My fellow victims here in Manila are now afraid that the recruiter may also use their identities in his modus”, Nillas said.

Nillas has already gone to the Quezon City Police District and will coordinate with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Bacolod City to clear his name.

CIDG-Bacolod head, Supt. Julius Ongkiko advised Nillas to come to Bacolod and bring documents to prove that he is not the illegal recruiter, and that his name and identity were only used by the real one.

Out of 41 complainants, not 60 as reported earlier, only 16 have filed charges againstthe illegal recruiter who used the name of Nillas before the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office Thursday .*APN
