The two survivors of a bloody confrontation at the Silay City public market on Feb. 29, were charged yesterday for two counts of murder and frustrated murder, police chief Supt. Rosauro Francisco said.
Francisco, Silay police chief, said one of the respondents, identified as Leo Abellar Jr. is now in their custody, while his father is still being treated for gunshot wounds at the Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City.
The two Abellars were shot during a confrontation with brothers Jimero and Roy Dioneo, who were both stabbed to death,at the Silay public market Wednesday last week.
Also injured during the incident were Ricardo Dioneo, elder brother of the two fatalities, and Edgar Flores, police investigations showed.
A certain Bobit Dioneo was also tagged as the suspect in the shooting of Abellar and his son, who were accused as suspects in the stabbing of the Dioneo brothers.
Policemen have been detailed at the public market and near the houses of Dioneo and Abellar families in Silay City to prevent an escalation of the conflict, that left two dead and four injured.
Senior Supt. Allan Guisihan, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, said they also tapped barangay tanods and Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team members to help the local police maintain peace and order at the market.
Guisihan said the conflict between the Dioneo and Abellar families, that had led to the bloody confrontation, was triggered by a lingering feud. *GPB back
