Silay BOSS
increases tax revenue

Silay City Permits and License Offer-in-Charge Aflredo Carballo Jr., in a press release, said the implementation of the Business One Stop Shop of the city government has generated a 9 percent increase of their tax collections, based on records from the city treasurer’s office.

He said the issuance of business permits this year is 25 percent higher compared from last year’s implementation of BOSS because of the new and quicker steps of issuing and renewing of business permits and licenses, the press release said.

In the new standard of issuing business permits and licenses, the joint inspection team inspects the business establishment first before the releasing of regulatory clearances to the applicants.

The applicants can continue to the remaining steps. The process has been streamlined into five steps, the press release said.

The Department of Trade and Industry Region VI evaluated the “unique” standard of the city’s BOSS and recommended the other LGUs to visit the city’s BOSS and suggested the same procedures must be replicated in their own areas, the press release also said.*
