5-year-old boy shot
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

A 5-year-old boy was recently shot by an unidentified man in Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental, and is now confined at a hospital in Dumaguete City.

Police reports said the boy was waiting for his cousin, Eugene del Monte, who was fetching water from the town proper, when the suspect fired at him for no apparent reason, hitting him on the head.

The incident was reported by Taloy Melodia to the police, who rushed the boy to the Bayawan District Hospital in Bayawan City but he was later transferred to the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete City.

Police are investigating the motive for the shooting.

In Ayungon town, a 3-year-old boy was injured when he was hit by a motorcycle, driven by a policeman, at the national highway in Barangay Calagcalag, at around 11:45 a.m. Monday.

Police Office 3 Dandy Mijon was on his way home when the boy reportedly crossed the street without warning, police records showed.

The boy was brought to the Bindoy District Hospital and later transferred to the provincial hospital in Dumaguete, the police said.*JFP
