Two titles for BUS G in
Sharp Cup cagefest

Basketball Unified Sports Group won the 40 and 50 Up titles in the 1st Sharp Basketball Cup at Regent Pearl gym on Sunday at Alijis in Bacolod City.

The Huskies' Fifties rallied from behind to score a hard-earned 75-67 victory against Real Med Pharmacy, the latter giving away the game by refusing to go back to the court with still 1 minute and 20 seconds left, after a melee involving BUS G point guard Ireneo Morales and Real Med’s Enrique Noblezada.

Morales was chasing a loose ball when his legs got entangled with that of Noblezada and he fell hard on the floor. Earlier in the third quarter, both players also figured in a brief squabble.

Cooler heads prevailed but Real Med gave up the fight and allowed BUS G to win despite Joel Marquez’s 26 points and Adelino Aureno sizzling performance.

BUS G's Toto Plagata hit 30 points to join Morales and Teloy Marcelino in the list of the Huskies’ top scorers.

In the 40 Up titular match, BUS G 40’s edged Bays Club, 89-88 as center Rey de Guzman led the way for the team.

Ex-PBA veteran Vernie Villarias scattered 23 markers for Bays Club, supported by Sarian Ordas and Adrian Melocoton.*NAB
