A barangay captain from Bacolod City with arrest warrants for four counts of falsification of public documents and four counts of graft and corruption was apprehended at 6 p.m. last night, Police Station 2 chief, Senior Insp. Robert Dejucos said.

Brgy. 7 Captain Bernabe Sibug, however, said the charges were only politically motivated and will not affect his performance.

Dejucos said Sibug was apprehended by the team of the City Police Special Operations Task Group by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Franklin Demonteverde who set his bail at P24,000 for each count of falsification of public documents, and P30,000 for each count of graft and corruption charges, police records showed.moremoremore

2 killed, 3 cops injured

Two were killed, one a minor, and three policemen were injured in vehicular accidents in Hinigaran town and in Sagay City, Negros Occidental, Wednesday.

Police identified the fatalities as Cielo Pailuran, 11, of Brgy. Bato, Hinigaran and Richie Nicos, 45, of Brgy. Poblacion Uno, Sagay City.

Pailuran who reportedly crossing the street in Sitio Linao in Brgy. Bato at about 5 p.m. Wednesday when she was sideswiped by the patrol car of Isabela town, Negros Occidental.moremoremore

Flowers, fireworks at
send off for Iggy

Tears and a shower of flowers from residents of the fifth district of Negros Occidental, and fireworks capped the wake of Rep. Ignacio “Iggy” Arroyo Jr. at the St. Mary Magdalene Church in Hinigaran town as a hearse slowly carried his remains away shortly after midnight yesterday.

The congressman’s supporters lined both sides of the center aisle and showered his casket with white flowers and petals as his casket was carried out of the of the church at midnight as a lone female sang Mandy Moore’s “Only Hope”.

As the casket was placed in the waiting hearse in front of the Church, fireworks exploded in the sky.moremoremore
