Bayawan City Mayor Rene Gaudiel focused on economic development, livelihood opportunities and improvement in the education sector in his second State of the City Address Wednesday at the Bayawan Integrated Complex in Villareal.

Bayawan presented a positive indication of a growing business community with the presence of commercial banks, restaurant and shopping centers, that provide employment opportunities and increase the purchasing power of the people, he added in the SOCA delivered.

Positive feedback from local business sector and outside clients had also been received on the LGU’s business one-stop shop that has issued 1,278 business permits, he said, adding there was a 36 percent increase in the total taxable assessed value in 2011, with tax collectibles of more than P27 billion that he attributed to the schedule of market values of taxable property units under Republic Act 7160.

CMAG-Negros guides soldiers
in performing duties, says AFP

Armed Forces Central Command chief Lt. Gen. Ralph Villanueva yesterday said the Church Military Advisory Group-Negros helped a lot and served as a guide for soldiers in performing of their duties, adhere to the rule of law, and respecting human rights.

Villanueva, who head the AFP in the Visayas, said this lightens their job because they also gets support from other sectors of society, in implementing the IPSP Bayanihan, aside from CMAG-Negros.

CMAG–Negros, that marked its 4th founding anniversary yesterday, was created through a memorandum of understanding between the Dioceses of Bacolod, Kabankalan, San Carlos and Dumaguete and the Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade, to pursue the collective vision of promoting human dignity and sustaining peace and development in Negros Island.

DOTC promises P2M for
Neg.Or. indigents

Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo said Secretary Mar Roxas of the Department of Transportation and Communications has promised to extend P2 million for indigents at the provincial hospital.

He said Roxas contacted him earlier this week to tell him that the funds are coming and should be spent according to specifications.

A P5 million special allotment release order had been issued by the Department of Budget and Management earlier for the concreting of the road leading to Lake Balanan in Siaton, one of the top tourist destinations in Negros Oriental.*JG
