SILAY BUY-BUST:
2 ‘drug peddlers’ yield
54 ‘marijuana’ cigarets

Buy-bust operations in Silay City, Negros Occidental, led to the arrest of two alleged illegal drug peddlers, yesterday and Wednesday.

Silay City police chief, Supt. Rosauro Francisco, identified the suspects as Joel Ortella Sr., “alias Borong”, 52, and Grace Benvievez, “alias Ma-ay”, 28, both of Brgy. Mambulac, Silay.

Francisco said the two were subjects of several days of surveillance on complaints that they are into the illegal drugs trade.

Ortella was apprehended by the team led by Senior Police Officer 1 Rayjay Rebadomia with Police Officers 2 Reynaldo Bernil Jr and Ian Libo-on, at about 3:15 p.m. yesterday at his residence.

Four rolled sticks of suspected marijuana cigarets were seized from him, the police said.

Benvievez, meanwhile, was nabbed at about 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, after she allegedly handed over 50 rolled sticks of suspected marijuana cigarets to a policeman, who acted as poseur buyer, in exchange for P400.

Three wanted men arrested

Three men with arrest warrants for different offenses were nabbed by the police in Isabela town, and La Carlota City in , Negros Occidental, and in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Judito Abueva, 21, of Brgy. Mabigo Canlaon City, was arrested by policemen in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, for carnapping charges.

San Carlos City police chief, Supt. Harold Tuzon, said Abueva was apprehended on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 57 Judge Danilo Amisola, who set his bail at P180,000.

Julius Cesar Gamboa, 18, of Brgy. Batuan, La Carlota City, was apprehended at about 11 a.m. Wednesday. The warrant for his arrest for theft was issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 63 Judge Fernando Elumba, who set his bail at P20,000.

Isabela policemen, meanwhile, arrested Romeo Brandia, 35, of Brgy. Maytubig in the town at about 6 p.m. Wednesday by virtue of a warrant for frustrated murder issued by Municipal Trial Circuit Court Judge Reynaldo Alon.*APN
