Chief Insp. Ray Cuanico, head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Negros Occidental, was relieved from his post effective yesterday and was replaced by Chief Insp. Cresenciano Cordero.
Cordero assumed his post after a turnover of command officiated by CIDG Region 6 chief, Senior Supt. Eddie Benigay, at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City Wednesday.
Cordero was installed in August last year as head of CIDG-Bacolod to replace Chief Insp. Ernor Melgarejo, but he was relieved and Melgarejo was reinstated several days later.
Cordero told the DAILY STAR that, he will implement the flagship programs of CIDG which include accounting of most wanted personalities through “Oplan Pagtugis” and will intensify the campaign against loose firearms and private armed groups.
CIDG Negros will intensify its monitoring and neutralization of criminal gangs and organized crime groups in the province and will strengthen its campaign against illegal numbers game through “oplan roulette,” he said.
“It is a challenge for me to equal, if not surpass the performance of Chief Insp. Cuanico though the help of concerned citizens, local government units and the CIDG Negros Occidental personnel”, Cordero said.*APN back
