Bayawan City bids
become next IT destination

BY MARICAR ARANAS

Negros Oriental State University president Dr. Henry Sojor yesterday promised to help Bayawan City in its goal of becoming an IT destination in Negros Oriental.

He said NORSU produces IT graduates who can be the working force for the IT Park of Bayawan City, and lauded the city government for venturing into information technology. The city has endorsed its application as an Economic Zone Information Technology to the Philippine Economic Zone Authority.

The IT industry creates more job opportunities for new professionals, Sojor said, adding that graduates from Bayawan City and neighboring towns no longer have to seek employment in Dumaguete, or even outside the province.

It will also help improve the economic activity of Bayawan because of the expected influx of investors.

Sojor said he is confident that Bayawan can put up the infrastructure investment to lure in investors.*MA
