Fetus found in drainage

A male fetus was found stuffed in a drainage canal in Brgy. 1, Bacolod City at noon yesterday.

Insp. Jovy Cabcaban, of the Bacolod City Women’s and Children’s Complaints Desk, said the fetus was found by Ryan Arellano while he was cleaning the drainage near the residence of his employer in Purok Bonito.

Cabcaban said they could not determine if the fetus was a victim of intentional abortion, or if the mother had a miscarriage and just threw it into the drainage.

Cabcaban also theorized that the fetus was left somewhere else, and then carried by a rat into the drainage.

She said the mother of the fetus may not be from Purok Bonito because residents said there were no pregnant women in the area.

The WCCD is still investigating the case and when the mother of the fetus has been identified, she will face charges for infanticide.*APN
