Guv hoping for COA
action on March 19

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday said he hopes the Commission on Audit will finally come out with a decision on March 19 on the deed of sale and contract of lease of the 7.7-hectare Negros Occidental provincial government property with Ayala Land Inc.

Marañon had earlier complained that, despite the submission of the deed and contract to the COA by the government in July last year, no action had been taken.

In an interview over Bombo Radyo Friday morning, COA spokesperson Gilbert Kintanar assured that the COA will deliberate on it on March 19 and denied that the matter was being delayed.

“We are doing our job to hasten this process because Gov. Marañon is asking us for speedy disposition of the case,” he said.

“We see no delay in the process, in fact, this may be the fastest case we have acted upon, because once the Secretariat received the document, it was immediately scheduled for deliberation” Kitananar added.*CPG
