Napolcom assures cases
vs. cops will be resolved
National Police Commission Region 6 Director Marte Palomar has assured that cases filed against policemen in Western Visayas will all be resolved before his term ends.
Palomar, who was in Bacolod City yesterday, said pending cases against policemen is one of the problems of Napolcom, not only in Region 6, but in the entire country.
One of the reasons for the delayed resolution of these cases is the lack of lawyers, especially in the national office, he added.
Palomar also claimed that when he was assigned as director of the Legal Affairs Section of Napolcom in Makati, he was able to resolve about 300 cases that had been pending for six to eight years.
Napolcom is inspecting the police stations of Bacolod this month to check if the suggestions made in last year’s assessment had been followed.
Palomar said last year’s inspections showed that some police stations lacked personnel, needed to improve in logistics, while some policemen had no service firearms.
He said Napolcom will impose sanctions if it finds out that its recommendations have not been complied with.
But he stressed that the Bacolod City and the Negros Occidental police remain better off than other stations in the country as far as peace and order, and drug problems are concerned.*APN back
