Ceres-La Salle bags
NOFA U23 crown

Ceres-La Salle Football Club defeated West Negros University Football, 3-1, to bag last weekend the 2012 Negros Occidental Football Association men’s U23 Provincial Championship in Talisay City.

The national U23 defending champion banked on three Azkals’ U23 strikers Joshua Beloya, Gerardo Valmayor lll and defender Reymark Fernandez in setting up the offense with teammate J Baguioro finding his mark in the 40th minute to end the half.

Ceres’ Hanesin Prince Anthony followed in the 57th and Joel Bedia also added in the 63rd minute.

WNU’s Shermar Felongco countered in the 75th minute but it’s too late for them to turn the table as time expired.

Ceres-La Salle, multi-titled mentored Freddie Lazarito said they are prepared for the Visayas Qualifying Cup in Dumaguete City on March 18.

Lazarito, who also steered the team in the same tournament almost three years ago in Iloilo, will tap WNU’s striker Jimuel Ariola to reinforce his team.

Former RP mainstay Norman Fegidero, who coached WNU FC, expressed no excuse of the defeat claiming his players lack experience as most of them were only 17 years old.

Ceres-La Salle is managed by Leo Rey Yanson, with Ramon Janeo assisting Lazarito.*PNA
