Iloilo vs. Negros in softball

It was a regulation win for Iloilo’s softball and baseball teams, scoring 11-0 and 10-0 against Guimaras and Aklan, respectively, in the secondary division of the 2012 WVRAA at the Paglaum Sports Complex, Bacolod City.

Negros Occidental also earned a regulation win against the Province of Capiz with a 15-1 score.

“In the ten-ground rule of baseball it states that if a team is ahead after half of the total innings, it is declared winner, thus the remaining innings are not played, Severino Estrella, tournament manager for secondary baseball game, said.

Estrella also said intensity of the game will be determined today when Negros and Iloilo baseball players face each team.

He added that based on their performance and scores yesterday, the two teams are considered the strongest.

Negros team baseball coach Gerry Makilan said they are well prepared for the athletics meet and will play wisely to bring honor to the province.

Makilan also said that they always make sure that their pitcher is well-conditioned and precise in his throws as he determines the tempo of the game.

Negros team for baseball is the same team that represented the province in the Palarong Pambansa last year held in Dipolog, Zamboanga.

Negros teams for softball and baseball elementary division also triumphed with a score 6-0 and 14-2 against Aklan and and Guimaras respectively.

Meanwhile, the Negros Occidental basketball team took the lead from the first quarter to the fourth and upset the Aklan team with a score 77-61.

It was not much of a hassle for the team to take its win against the Aklan team with rebounds and defenses for Jude Fel Junto and Agusto Miguel Guirnela while earning 15 points each for the entire game.

Kraniel Villoria made 10 points, John Lorenz Toral, 7 points, and 5 points from Josue Segumpan.*LTG
