Negros tankers haul
26 gold medals

Negros Occidental swimmers harvested 26 gold, 17 silver, and six bronze medals from the Panaad pool yesterday to strengthen the host province’s bid for a 19th overall championship in the 2012 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet at the Panaad Park and Sports Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

The Negrense swimmers showed their dominance by taking the gold in 200m elementary and boys and girls’ and 400m secondary boys and girls’ freestyle, 100m elementary girls’ and 100m secondary girls’ backstroke, 50m elementary boys and girls’ and 200m boys and girls’ butterfly, all four divisions in 4x50m medley relay, 50m elementary boys and girls’ and 200m secondary girls’ breastroke, all four divisions in 200m medley, 100m elementary girls and 100m secondary boys and girls’ free, 4x100m elementary boys and girls and 4x100m secondary girls’ medley relay.

Iloilo vs. Negros in softball

It was a regulation win for Iloilo’s softball and baseball teams, scoring 11-0 and 10-0 against Guimaras and Aklan, respectively, in the secondary division of the 2012 WVRAA at the Paglaum Sports Complex, Bacolod City.

Negros Occidental also earned a regulation win against the Province of Capiz with a 15-1 score.

JKT vs Sta. Fe in TKP final

Top Seed Sta. Fe Resort and No. 3 Buddy Johann Kendrick Tan set up a championship showdown in Class B of the 12th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Basketball Cup at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Earlier, Sta. Fe Resort pulled away in the fourth quarter to put away Nena’s Rose II Shopping, 87-70, and good free throw shooting carried Buddy JKT through against 888 Chinatown Square, 87-81.

For the second straight game, Buddy beat an opponent that has defeated them in the elimination round and hoped to continue the trend when it meets Sta. Fe in the finals, playing as of presstime.
