Msgr. GG’s grand
80th birthday bash
Picture an evening spent with a gracious host, sparkling company, impeccable service, superb cuisine complemented with excellent wine and to top it all, delightful entertainment that warms the heart and lifts the soul.
This was the fabulous 80th birthday celebration of our beloved Msgr. GG Gaston held recently at Sanctuario de La Salle. The host surprised us all with only four stunning costume changes during the party! (He used to have as much as six or seven (?) changes in his previous celebrations!). The place was buzzing with close friends and family the time we arrived.
The program opened with “Amay Namon” composed by Msgr. GG which he performed with the West Negros University Glee Club – Cathedral Choir, then “I Believe-Ave Maria” beautifully executed by both choirs. Famous movie director
Peque Gallaga emceed the program with his inimitable style. He got a big laugh when he announced, “Dinner is served. Please remember the Titanic order – women and children first!”
Dinner was a gastronomic delight during this glittering occasion - the host is, of course, a well-known food connoisseur and everything was done to perfection.
We all savored each dish with absolute bliss. When we were all sated, the program continued with more musical numbers featuring Msgr. GG’s signature song, “O Sole Mio”, to rapturous applause. I especially enjoyed “Amigos Para Siempre”, “Eres Tu” and the Hiligaynon folk song medley by the WNU Glee Club.
What an evening it was! Simply brilliant! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MSGR. GG!* |
