The Public Employment Service Offices of Bacolod City and the Province of Iloilo are sharing their best practices in providing employment and skills training to help jobseekers especially those in the marginalized sectors.
Moises de la Cruz, manager of PESO-Bacolod said, they need to strengthen their programs through collaboration so they will be able to address the problem of job mismatch, underemployment, and unemployment.
De la Cruz said conducting job fairs with placement companies is one of the special recruitment activities of Bacolod.
“Knowing that Iloilo has more placement companies compared to Bacolod City, we would rather invite those from Iloilo than get companies in Manila,” de la Cruz said.
Iloilo PESO manager Francisco Heler, Jr. said that, through collaboration, they will be able to maximize the facilitation of employment in both areas.
Heler also said they will be able to meet local employers from Bacolod and Iloilo and provide local market information where jobseekers will have more work choices and companies to choose from.
They also aim to provide livelihood and entrepreneurship programs that will help the out-of-school youth and unemployed parents.
Heler also said the networking of PESO’s in the region will strengthen their programs in addressing unemployment.
They are also pushing for the creation of the labor market information for every province so they will can benchmark, evaluate, and monitor their employment status. *LTG
