The three-hour brownout in Dumaguete City and other parts of Negros Oriental Wednesday was caused by a power trip in one of the transmission lines of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, Elmer Cruz, NGCP Corporation Communications officer, said yesterday.
Cruz said that an investigation conducted showed that a private vehicle accidentally hit the wire that supports one of the transmission structures in Brgy. Taclobo, Dumaguete City.
Power was restored after NGCP was able to re-energize its Amlan-Siaton 69KV transmission line, he added.
Customers of the Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative Inc. experienced the unplanned brownout from 10:08 a.m. to 1:28 p.m.
Beverly Gonzales of Noreco 2, said the outage affected the Dumaguete, and areas from the Tandayag, Amlan NGCP sub-station, to Siaton town in the south.
The Mabinay-Bayawan 69kV transmission line was also de-energized from 12:20 p.m. to 2:46 p.m. Wednesday as requested by Noreco 2 to facilitate repair activities at their Banaba substation.*JFP
