Mabinay donates
land to NORSU

BY MARICAR ARANAS

Negros Oriental State University president Henry Sojor and Mabinay Mayor Ernie Uy recently signed the deed of donation for the 4.5-hectare land area in Barangay Namangka, Mabinay, Negros Oriental, for use by the school.

The land, that used to be occupied by the Mabinay Institute of Technology, will become the property of NORSU Mabinay Campus as its School for Agriculture and Forestry, Uy said.

The donation is a welcome development for the town to have a school that focuses on agriculture and forestry, considering that Mabinay is a highly agricultural area, he added. Students from Mabinay will no longer have to travel to Dumaguete to study agriculture.

Another land area set to be donated to NORSU is the eight-hectare property owned by the government in Barangay Paniabonan, Mabinay. Part of the land has been occupied by the Paniabonan High School,  that  would be a suitable area for another university campus, the mayor said.

Sojor said the university can now  plan the development of the campus  for its  school buildings and important structures. He added that he is eyeing to convert the eight-hectare Paniabonan area as  the NORSU Mabinay Main Campus 1.*MA
