ETCS girls retain
crown in softball

A perennial champion in the Western Visayas regional meet, Bacolod City’s ETCS elementary girls’ softball team, representing Negros Occidental, found themselves in an unfamiliar surroundings after bowing to Iloilo, 2-12, in the eliminations, and handling the latter a twice-to-beat advantage in the championship round.

But the girls mentored by Tess Himpolaran and Mimi Siocon, seasoned batters at their young age, fought back and beat the Zarraga-based Iloilo team twice yesterday to retain their crown.

In their first encounter, ETCS defeated Iloilo, 5-3, then sealed the victory, 7-2, in the final game played in the under the scorching heat of the sun at the Paglaum Sports Complex.

Sta. Fe survives JKT
to capture TKP title

Sta. Fe Resort outlasted Buddy Johann Kendrick Tan, 78-71, to claim the 12th Tan KeK Pin Memorial Basketball Cup Class B title played at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Sta. Fe left nothing to chance as it detonated a 21-2 run in the opening quarter to post a 23-7 lead, buoyed by a balanced offensive led by Daniel Chiu with eight points.

Sta. Fe kept Buddy at bay behind Ren Ren Lacson’s 12 points and Edward Uy’s seven points for a 43-26 lead at the break.
