6th RAFI awards March 22
BY RENE GENOVE

The 6th Triennial Awards for the outstanding individuals and institutions in the Visayas will be presented by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., a Cebu-based nongovernment organization, March 22 at the Marco Polo Plaza in Cebu City.

Dominica Chua, chief operating officer, said the RAFI Awards, conferred every three years, are given in two categories: the Ramon Aboitiz Award for Exemplary Individual, and the Eduardo Aboitiz Award for Outstanding Institution.

It was launched in the Visayas and Mindanao in 1996 to give recognition to institutions and individuals who committed themselves to building a more humane, equitable, and caring society.

Chua added that the awards honor the men and women who, through their efforts to bring about change and improve the lives of the less-privileged, “reflect the philanthropic, humanitarian and holistic ideals and values of Don Ramon Aboitiz and Don Eduardo Aboitiz”.*RG
