‘Notorious’ thief mauled
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

A man, who police believe is behind a series of robbery-theft incidents in Dumaguete City, and nearby areas in Negros Oriental, was arrested by civilians, Sunday, after a pickpocketing incident.

Police investigation showed that Dionisio Noveliro Sancon, 41, a resident of Canday-ong in barangay Calindagan, Dumaguete City, picked the handbag of a co-passenger while inside a multi-cab, at Hibbard Avenue.

Marivic Blanco, of Guihulngan City, almost lost P10,000 in cash to the suspect. As Sancon was alighting from the vehicle, passersby were alerted when someone in the multi-cab called for assistance, prompting them to chase and corner the suspect, the police said.

The police are calling on victims of similar robbery and theft incidents to go to the Dumaguete police station to identify the suspect.*JFP
