Try-outs for vacancies in its collegiate varsity teams beginning late this month until the end of April will be held by University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, a press release from the school said.
University sports moderator Ericson Rios said this is part of the normal cycle of replacing athletes lost to graduation or transfer.
Among the graduates this year are National PRISAA sepak takraw campaigner Aris John Elmission, pole vaulter Rizaldy Balero, NOPSSCEA and WVPRISAA champions Richard Emperado and Ferdie Nehru Lagdamat of table tennis and Archer Son and Arnold De Oca of chess, volleyball setter Edilvonne Yanson and football veteran Jose Marie Gubatayao, the press release said.
Basketball kicks off daily sessions beginning 7 a.m. on March 26, while daily football beginning 3 p.m. starts April 10. Monday-Wednesday-Friday sessions for men and women volleyball starting at 9 a.m. begin April 11. Chess will hold tournament-style try-outs starting 9 am on April 20-21.
Table tennis, which holds practices at the Lopue’s Table Tennis Association Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays 2:30 pm beginning April 10, is also accommodating walk-in tryouts.
UNO-R will also hold summer training and selection camps in high school boys and girls basketball and high school and elementary chess for its own students, the press release said.
