The Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade (Tabara Paduano Group) in Negros is expected to surrender more than 500 high-powered firearms to the government.
This is because the Office of the Presidential Adviser of Peace Process will start the inventory of all firearms possessed by the rebel group in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, today with the imminent closure of the peace agreement between the government and the Rebolusyonaryong Partido ng Manggagawa-Pilipinas–Revolutionary Proletarian Army–Alex Boncayao Brigade (Tabara-Paduano Group).
The disposition of firearms and forces of the RPA-ABB, and its transformation into a legal, unarmed and socio-economic organization, is part of the mandatory provision of the peace agreement.
OPPAP records show that the RPA-ABB forces in Negros island have about 538 high-powered firearms, aside from the 102 guns being possessed by their colleagues in Iloilo, Antique and Aklan.
The inventory of firearms comes after the OPPAP also completed the profiling of about 700 RPA-ABB members in Negros and Panay, as well as several others in Manila and Mindanao.
OPPAP Undersecretary Luisito Montalbo said the profiling will guide the government in creating peace and development communities that will serve as resettlement sites for TPG members, that is fully supported by local chief executives, civil society organizations, the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the National Police.
