Member of Bantay Bayan
nabbed in drug buy-bust

A Bantay Bayan member was apprehended by members of the Bacolod City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group, in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Singcang-Airport, at about 10:20 a.m. yesterday.

Nabbed was Jolito Estocaning, “alias Toto”, 32, of Purok Mars, in the barangay, after he gave two small sachets of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer, in exchange for P500, Supt. Santiago Rapiz, CAIDSTOG head, said.

Two more small plastic sachets of suspected shabu, placed in a blue plastic canister, three improvised plastic straws used as scoops, and a pair of scissors, were also recovered from Estocaning, police records showed.

Rapiz said Estocaning had been under surveillance for several weeks, on complaints that he is supplying illegal drugs to commercial sex workers, at the Goldenfield Commercial Complex. The suspect refused to identify his supplier during police interrogation, Rapiz added.

Charges for violation of sections 5 and 11, or illegal drugs sale, possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia, will be filed against Estocaning, who is detained at the lock-up cell of the Bacolod City police headquarters.

Rapiz reiterated yesterday that they will aggressively address the problem of illegal drugs in Bacolod.

Meanwhile, a sachet of suspected shabu, was recovered from a man arrested by Station 1 policemen for alarm and scandal, at about 12:50 a.m. Wednesday, in a bar at Nueva Street, Bacolod City.

Jumar Baguin, 28, of Purok San Roque, in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod, was nabbed by Police Officers 1 Rolly Jardinico and Lemuel Sapa, Police Officer 2 Glenn Motaño, and Police Officer 3 Rene Labating, on complaints of the management of Mega Bar, that Baguin was creating alarm and scandal at the establishment.

The police said Baguin was trying to sell a stolen motorcycle to one of the bar customers.

The suspect admitted stealing the motorcycle, and identified his companions as “alias Jun-jun” and “One Ball”, Chief Insp. Adonis Rosales, Station 1 commander, said in a television interview.*APN

Campaign vs.
jai alai continues

Two men were arrested by members of the Bacolod City Police Special Operations Group, for alleged jai alai operations at about 10:20 a.m. yesterday, in Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City.

SOG head, Supt. Santiago Rapiz, identified the suspects as Rolando Magbanua, 50; and Sunny Villegas, 30; both of Purok Mars in Brgy. Singcang-Airport.

Rapiz said they were on their way back to police headquarters from a drug buy-bust operation, also in Purok Mars, when they chanced upon Villegas and Magbanua, allegedly in the act of tallying bets for jai alai.

Several tipsters with the codename “Target”, a bundle of yellow pad paper with written number combinations, four ballpens, and P320 in cash, were recovered from Villegas and Magbanua, he added.

The suspects are now detained at the lock-up cell of the Bacolod City police headquarters, and charges for illegal gambling will be filed against them.

Rapiz said that, based on their monitoring, there are still five jai alai operators in Bacolod with the codenames “Solar”, “Dragon”, “Diamond”, “Target” and “Meredien”.*APN
