5 champs split prize in
St. Joseph’s derby

Five top cockers in the province split the top prize in the 1st Fiesta de San Jose 3-Cock Derby sponsored by the St. Joseph School– a Salle Alumni Association Inc., in coordination with Ruby Jubliaran Batch 72, and Silver Jubliarian Batch 87 at the Villamonte Gym, a press release from the group said.

Proceeds from the event that is supported by the barangay officials of Villamonte, will be used for the Scholarship Program of SJS-LS.

The five champions were Clarence Batch 72, OPM Caliban Batch 72, BATCH 87, Ta-al, and DLJV Shem Lean 3 Cock. Each champion received P14,336, while the handlers and gaffers received P800 and P600 each, the press release said.

The organizers also cited the Villamonte officials, led by Brgy. Captain Drebe Las Piñas for supporting the activity and for passing a resolution making the cock derby an annual event during the fiesta, the press release said.*
