The Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process yesterday started the inventory of firearms, ammunition and explosives in the  possession of members of the rebel breakaway group, the Revolutionary Proletarian Army- Alex Boncayao Brigade, in Negros Oriental.

This is part of a series of firearms‘ inventories and profiling of RPA-ABB members, being conducted in Negros and Panay Islands. It is part of the ongoing peace agreement  between the government and the RPA-ABB’s Tabara-Paduano group and its “imminent closure”, the OPAPP said.

Dumagueteña finalist in
Miss Phils.-Earth

A contestant from Dumaguete City, was chosen as one of the finalists of the Miss Philippines-Earth 2012 competition,  where  the winner will  be known at the  coronation night on May 27.

Glenna Christina Ortiz Duch, 18,  who is taking up Business Management at  Silliman University, said she felt blessed after  being chosen as one of the finalists.

She admitted feeling the pressure of representing Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental, but said she is confident, that with the support and prayers of the Negrenses, she can present her best during the pageant.

DESPITE TWIN CALAMITIES :
BIR District 79 tax goal
increased to P5.2-billion

Bureau of Internal Revenue Region 12 Director Perfecto Aranas said he is confident that Revenue District-79 in Dumaguete can attain its tax goal collection of P5.258-billion despite the twin calamities that hit Negros Oriental.

Arnas admitted that, while the disasters will impact on tax collection of the BIR, he believes that RDO-79 can hit the target since it is a consistent top performer among the revenue districts under BIR Region 12.

This year’s assigned goal for the whole district comprising of four revenue offices increased by P138 million, or 2.78 percent, over last year’s target.
