La Castellana paddlers capture title
in Andrew Jalandoni table tennis tilt

While other sports disciplines continue to strengthen their local programs, table tennis is also working its way to gain more public awareness in the province.

The previous weekend, the Royal Paddle Table Tennis Club headed by Arnie Uy held the Andrew Jalandoni Cup at the club’s center.

Paddlers from La Castellana town composed of Anthony Berja, Joel Paran and Remy Zerrudo captured the title and the cash prize of P2,000, while La Carlota City’s “Green Lantern” bannered by Roberto 'Francis' Jalandoon, Anthony Katada and Elmer Cortes finished first runner-up and went home with P1,500 cash prize.

Nat’l age-group triathlon
kicks off in Sipalay today

The National Age-Group Triathlon sponsored by the city government of Sipalay headed by Mayor Oscar Montilla Jr., in coordination with the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, starts today in the coastal area of the city.

Triathletes who are joining in the competition will swim 1.5 kilometers in the pristine waters of Sipalay, bike for 40 kilometers on flat road, and run for 10 kilometers along the beach.

Endorsed by Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., the event is also supported by the Department of Tourism-Region 6 and supervised by the Triathlon Association of the Island of Negros and the Triathlon Association of the Philippines.

P3 million 7-cock derby
starts in RGG Coliseum

Cockfighting enthusiasts will have a rare treat today when medium scale gamefowl raisers and big time breeders meet for the opening day of the P3 Million Guaranteed Prize 7-Cock Derby hosted by Ricky Castillo and Monju Guanzon at the RGG Multi-Purpose Coliseum in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

Rizal Robles of RGG said 40 entries from Negros and invited cockers from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao are competing in this five-day competition.

Action will start at 2 p.m.
