COA informed of
pending cases vs. Capitol

BY CARLA GOMEZ

The lawyer of a Bacolod resident has  informed Commission on Audit chairperson Ma. Gracia Pulido-Tan  of pending cases  before the Regional Trial Court of Bacolod involving a portion  of the property in Bacolod  City that the provincial government of Negros Occidental plans to lease and sell to AyalaLand Inc.

Lorenzo Alminaza, counsel for Manuel Villadelgado Jr., in a letter  to Pulido-Tan  dated March 19 said they are  bringing to her attention  facts about Lot 403 that is presently at the center of the controversy between  the province of Negros Occidental, ALI,  and SM Prime Holdings Inc.

The COA is currently reviewing the awarding of the lease and sale of the 7.7-hectare property in Bacolod City by the provincial government to ALI.

Alminaza informed the COA that his client is one of the heirs and successor-in-interest of the registered owners  of OCT No. T-2424, covering Lot 403, that has led to the filing of pending cases versus the provincial government before the Bacolod RTC.

He said they are bringing the matter of the  two cases against Lot 403 (Lot 403-A and Lot 403-B) in order that COA can include the materiality of the pending cases in reviewing the Capitol’s  proposed sale and lease of the properties.*CPG
