PNOY TO PNPA GRADS:
Discard corrupt
police system

SILANG, Cavite – President Benigno Aquino III exhorted the 220 graduates of the “Sinagtala” Class 2012 to embrace the “straight path” in their challenging opportunities for public service that is praiseworthy, and discard the notoriety of a corrupt police system.

Speaking in Filipino at the 33rd Commencement Exercises of the Philippine National Police Academy here Saturday, the President also urged the new graduates to emulate their predecessors in the police ranks who have shown bravery and heroism in the service.

He pointed out that upright deeds build stronger society that sustains a robust economy, provides jobs and supports more funds for education, health and other programs that uplift us from poverty.

He advised the new graduates to resist corruption, wither from their professionalism because of the patronage system and bribery that are challenging tests to their principles and integrity.

Aquino also reported the socialized housing project for military and police personnel who will benefit from the 21,800 units built under the auspices of the National Housing Authority through the shelter programs steered by Vice President Jejomar Binay.

He said additional 31,200 units are constructed this year to benefit personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and the Bureau of Corrections, throughout the country. Aquino also assured the provisions of training and skills programs that have since benefited 37,000 PNP, BJMP and BFP personnel.

He also directed the issuance of modern Personal Protective Equipment for the firefighters and additional arms and ammunition for the police, in keeping with the law enforcement agencies’ sworn duties to protect lives and the mandate to maintain peace and order.*PNA
