Police arrest suspect in
death of teenager

A man wanted for the murder of a minor in Bacolod City about two years ago, was apprehended by the city police Special Operations Task Group, at about 11:45 a.m. Saturday at his house in Brgy. Taculing.

SOG head, Supt. Santiago Rapiz identified the suspect as Alter Hernaiz, 21, of Purok Kabukiran, who was apprehended on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 53 Judge Pepito Gellada, who denied him bail.

Hernaiz is one of the suspects who ganged up on, and fatally stabbed a high school student, whose name was not disclosed, at Rosario Heights Subdivision in Brgy. Taculing in 2010, the police said.

Aside from Hernaiz, his friend Jayvee Llana, is also listed in the arrest warrant, Rapiz told the DAILY STAR.

Hernaiz is detained at the lock-up cell of Police Station 6 and will be referred to the Bacolod City Bureau of Jail Management and Penology this week.*APN

5 'robbers' nabbed

Five suspected robbers, two of them minors, were apprehended by the police at La Salle Avenue, and in Brgy. 12, Bacolod City, yesterday and Friday.

Larry Trillo, “alias Labing”, 26, of Purok Masagana in Brgy. Taculing; Miguel Cadagat, “alias May-May” of Sitio Magsungay; and Joseph Flores, 20, of Purok UNO-R in Brgy. Handumanan, were arrested at about 3:25 a.m. yesterday after they allegedly attempted to rob a cellular phone shop at La Salle Avenue.

Senior Insp. Robert Dejucos, Station 2 chief, said a concerned citizen called the police, informing them that three unidentified men were sawing the iron grills at a window of the shop.

The suspects had climbed to the top of a tree near the shop window and were sawing the grills, but jumped off and hid in a nearby bridge when they saw the policemen approaching, Dejucos said.

But a coordinated effort with Station 4 operatives led to the arrest of the suspects, who are now detained at the lock-up cell of Police Station 4 in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod.

Meanwhile, two minors were arrested Friday, after they allegedly entered the room of Racquel Pacquiao and Roland Teves in Purok Malipayon, Brgy. 12.

Teves told the police he was awakened at about 6 a.m. Friday when he heard a noise and saw the minors inside their room, with one of them holding his cellular phone valued at P2,600.

The arrested minors will be referred to the Bacolod Social Development Center, the police said.*APN
