Former Bacolod Councilor Celia Flor said she is still undecided about running in 2013 especially since the Commission on Elections will adopt the same Precinct Count Optical Scan machines which, she said, has no verification system.
Flor said there are two groups inviting her to join their party – the Liberal party and the group of Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, who is running for mayor of Bacolod.
She said it would be best if there is a verification system so the voter would know if the names of the candidates he or she has shaded in the ballot is exact.
“I hope COMELEC will reconsider its decision to adopt that same system because, for me, it somehow disenfranchises you as a voter not to know exactly how you voted. I hope COMELEC will add that verification in their system,” she said.
Flor, who is the executive director of Development Through Active Women Networking Foundation, said she will make a decision in a few months since she is busy traveling now because she has a consultancy firm.
“I am still praying for it because I want a better electoral process and situation. If I see that the people really have a desire for clean politics, then my apprehension might disappear,” Flor said.*CGS
