Bacolod barangay lupons rated 8 on
competence in handling cases

The members of the barangay Lupong Tagapamayapa in Bacolod City were rated eight, out of 10 as highest score, on their knowledge and capabilities in handling cases submitted to them, a press release from the Liga ng mga Barangay said.

The rating was given by Cesar Beloria Jr., city legal enforcement officer of Bacolod, in a seminar at the Middle Town Inn, March 26-27, on the proper procedures and executions of the laws, rulings of the Supreme Court, and the basic interpretation of the law, the press release added.

Dino Ponsaran, officer-in-charge of the Department of Interior and Local Government-Bacolod, said the seminar was aimed at professionalizing the barangay justice system in Bacolod City.

It also served as a refresher course because, although the settlement of cases in the barangay has been practiced for long, the system needs to be updated and upgraded, Ponsaran added in the press release.*
