PAFELA holds
Unity Run 2012

An estimated 800 participants joined the Unity Run 2012 organized by the Pag-IBIG Fund Employees Labor Association (PAFELA) – Bacolod Chapter with chairman Mae Ramos, vice chairman Roland Gilo, and event coordinator Engr. Richard Vincent Nepomuceno taking the lead in the activity, a press release from the group said.

The Unity Run 2012, with the theme: Pakwela Sang PAFELA Pang-Eskwela, was held at the Bacolod City Government Center and drew support from the Pag-IBIG Fund-Bacolod Branch management.

The participants came from government agencies, private agencies, public and private schools, runner clubs, various organizations and individuals who vied for top honors in men and women’ 5K and men and women’s 10K events.

Rommell Hulleza topped the men’s 5K after the finishing the race in 16 minutes and 12 seconds, while Romulo Balinas Jr (16:22), placed second and -Ryan Hulleza (16:41) at third place.

In women’s 5K, Jay Dha Mae Lorega topped the race after negotiation the distance in 22 minutes and .8 second, Lyann Dilema (23:04) at second place, and Gella Mayang (26:20), third place.

Jeson Agravante ruled the men’s 10K with his time of 33:06, while veteran long distance runner Anthony Babiera (33.15) booked the second place, and Joel Alcorin (33:22), third place.

Jennylyn Nobleza (41:21) reigned in the women’s 10K, followed by Stephanie Cadosale (44:04), and Phoebee Anne Lava (47:45).

All top three winners in each category received cash prizes, medals, certificates and other freebies from Wilmer Lirazan, assistant department manager of Pag-IBIG Fund-Bacolod Branch, Ronnie Macainan, chairman PAFELA - Iloilo chapter, Police Senior Superintendent Ricardo Dela Paz-City Director of the BCPO, and Franklin Echevarria of Frunk Training System.

Proceeds of the Unity Run will be used to purchase school supplies to be given to hundreds of pupils of public elementary schools in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental in the next school opening, the press release added.*
