A delegation from the Japanese Embassy turned over a P4.1 million training infrastructure to Pag-Inupdanay Inc. in Brgy. Guinhalaran, Silay City, Negros Occidental, recently Leo Teodisio, administrative and finance officer of PI said yesterday.

Akio Isomata, minister of economic affairs and Shigehiro Matsuda, third secretary of the economic section led the turnover of the PI Training Center that serves as educational venue for the partners of PI in the province, Teodisio said.

He said the center is a three-storey building with 15 workshop rooms and dormitories. It can accommodate 60 persons and it has training facilities for plastic welding, tailoring, and food processing, he added.

He also said PI has about 30,000 beneficiaries, mostly child laborers, poor mothers, agricultural workers, small farmers and agrarian reform beneficiaries.

PI, the training center, and its sister organization Balay Pag-Inupdanay Foundation, Inc. aim to provide alternative learning systems for the marginalized and those who are deprived of access to education, Teodisio said

The training center will help more beneficiaries and teach them skills that they can use to uplift their lives he added. *LTG
