Jobs fair, symposium in
3 NegOr LGUs today

Three local government units in Negros Oriental will simultaneously hold activities to mark Labor Day today.

Kenrick Villaluz, of the local Department of Labor and Employment, said various events will be held in Dumaguete, Canlaon City, and Zamboanguita town.

The biggest event is the one-day job fair in Dumaguete, sponsored by the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council of Negros Oriental, he added.

Around 2,000 job applicants provincewide are expected to participate in the fair. Socorro Mira, Dumaguete City Public Employment Services officer, said 18 local and overseas employers have confirmed participation in the activity.

Available jobs in the fair are for nurses, dental assistances, caregivers, foremen, factory workers, receptionists, engineers, accountants, wielders, drivers and hotel crew.

In Canlaon, the celebration will kick off with a fun walk this morning, followed by a symposium on labor issues; while a motorcade will be held in Zamboanguita to be participated in by members of rural workers associations registered under the DOLE.*
